US actor Kevin Spacey has been granted unconditional bail, following his appearance in London’s Westminster Magistrates Court this morning (June 16), on four charges of sexually assaulting three men.

This means Spacey is not deemed to pose a flight risk and is therefore about to move freely in the run up to the trial.

Three complaints relate to sexual abuse which is alleged to have taken place in London between 2005 and 2008, and one in Gloucestershire in 2013.

The American Beauty and House Of Cards actor is also facing a fifth charge of causing a man to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent in 2008 in London. This is an indictable-only offence, meaning it can only be tried in a Crown Court.

His next hearing appearance will be at Southwark Crown Court on July 14.

Spacey is being represented by Patrick Gibbs QC, who told the court: “Mr Spacey strenuously denies any and all criminality in this case.”

He entered no pleas to the charges during the hearing.

Last month, he told Good Morning America that he will “voluntarily” appear in the UK courts and is “confident” he can prove his innocence.
