The Nicholl Fellow winning screenplay from Dion Cook will benefit from the initiative to showcase top quality writing, launched last year by the Texas-based non-profit arts group Ballroom Marfa.

This year’s selection committee comprised writer Robert Towne, actress Jeanne Tripplehorn and Black Beauty producer Robert Shapiro.

John Davies will direct The Reading showcase as he did last year and Carolyn Pfeiffer and Nancy Sanders will produce. There will be one matinee and one evening performance on Apr 21.

The Reading exemplifies Ballroom Marfa’s commitment to a multidisciplinary approach, which has facilitated artistic cross-pollination since our inception in 2003,” Ballroom Marfa co-founder Fairfax Dorn said.

The Reading continues our mission of presenting emerging artists in all forms and creates an opportunity to celebrate the screenwriter — who is often under recognised.”
