Fastlane Entertainment has joined forces with Australian film-maker Tony Findlay to fast-track its animated theatrical feature Trouble Down Under for an early July start.

Production will take place in Sydney, Australia. Steve Trenbirth, whose credits include The Lion King 2 andThe Legend Of Secret Pass, will direct.

Fastlane founder and CEO Frank Miniaci will serve as executive producer with Findlay. The producers are out to cast.

Findlay wrote the screenplay with Howard Jackson about a pack of African meerkats wreaks havoc with a local population of red and gray kangaroos in the Australian Outback.

Trenbirth founded Mad Cow Pictures, which will serve as the animation and production headquarters for Trouble Down Under. The film is slated for release in October 2012.
