Newly added films to Screenbase include Daniel Alfredson’s Echoes From The Dead as well as Australian-UK co-production The Riders.
Shooting has just commenced on Daniel Alfredson’s Echoes From The Dead, which centres on a mother whose five-year-old son disappeared 20 years ago on Öland with no trace of him ever found. Alfredson and Ditta Bongenheilm wrote the script, which is based on Johan Theorin’s novel of the same name. Lena Endre will star alongside Tord Peterson and Thomas W Gabrielsson.
Produced by Yellow Bird, Fundament Film, Nouvago Capital and SVT, the film received financial support from the Swedish Film Institute. Shooting takes place in Cuba and Sweden and is scheduled to complete at the end of October. Zodiak Rights handles worldwide sales and has sold the drama already to Lumière (Belgium/Netherlands), Nordisk Film (Sweden), DRTV (Denmark), MTV3 (Finland), and TV2 (Norway).
Sam Worthington [pictured], Timothy Spall, Alexandra Maria Lara and Charles Dance will star in Robert Connolly’s The Riders, about an Aussie expat who prepares to start a new life in Northern Ireland with his wife and young daughter. When his wife goes missing he travels across the globe in search of her. The thriller was adapted by Michael Hirst, Susie Brooks-Smith and Francesca Brill from Tim Winton’s bestselling novel. Brooks-Smith will also produce alongside Robert Fox and Tim White. Shooting is scheduled for next February and Stealth Media Group has acquired worldwide rights.
