Stealth Media Group closes financing on The Magnificent Eleven.

London and LA based Stealth Media Group has closed the financing on The Magnificent Eleven, the project that will be directed by writer Irvine Welsh (of Trainspotting fame). Welsh has co-written alongside Pete Adams and John Adams.

The film is being billed as a modernisation of classic Western The Magnificent Seven. The difference here is that the Cowboys are a local amateur soccer team, the Indians run a nearby Tandoori restaurant, and the bandits are a group of menacing thugs led by a maniac known simply as American Bob.

The film is being produced by John Adams, Ron Purdie and Ian Dray of Angry Badger Pictures and Stealth Media Group.

The film will start pre-production at Shepperton Film Studios from late March 2011 and be delivered for December 2011.

Lionsgate UK have picked up all British rights to the film which will star Sean Bean, Robert Vaughn, Dougray Scott and Paul Barber.

The film will be a co-production with Swedish production company Filmgate Films in association with the Swedish regional film board Film i Väst.
