Martin Sheen has joined Hyde Park Entertainment and Imagenation Abu Dhabi’s upcoming spy thriller The Double.

Sheen rounds out a cast that includes Richard Gere, Topher Grace, Stephen Moyer, Stana Katic and Odette Yustman.

Production is scheduled to commence in Detroit on June 21. Michael Brandt makes his feature directorial debut from a screenplay he co-wrote with Derek Haas.

Hyde Park chairman Ashok Amritraj and Hyde Park executive vice-president of production Patrick Aiello will produce alongside Haas and Industry Entertainment’s Andrew Deane. Imagenation Abu Dhabi Chairman Mohamed Khalaf Al-Mazrouei and CEO Edward Borgerding will serve as executive producers.

The story centres on a CIA operative who teams up with a young FBI agent to track down a suspected Soviet agent following the murder of a Senator. Sheen will play the CIA director.
