Richard E Grant is to front a “luxurious” travel series for Sky Atlantic that marks the first commission for Clive Tulloh’s new indie.

Hotel Secrets with Richard E Grant (working title) will follow the actors exploration of the world’s most famous and infamous hotels.

The 6 x 60-minute series will air this summer and production begins today.

It is the first production to come out of Burning Bright Productions, the indie formed by former Tiger Aspect execs Tulloh and Peter Bennett-Jones last autumn.

Tulloh said the series was “the perfect project to start a new production company with”.

“This upmarket travel show will provide the combination of great journalism and fabulous voyeurism into some of the best hotels in the world and their fascinating history,” he added.

Across the six episodes, the actor will explore hotels including The Ritz and Le Meaurice in Paris, the Chelsea and Waldorf in New York, the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles and the Savoy in London.

Each episode will be built around themes such as bad behaviour, sex scandals, warring hotel dynasties and the outrageous extravagances of guests.

It will also look into what is behind the organisation of show stopping events and what makes a select number of hotels unique.

Grant said: “I love to travel and the chance to visit some of the most iconic hotels in the world and learn more about the dazzling and dark secrets they hide was just too good to miss.”

Tulloh and Nicky Taylor will executive produce the series alongside Siobhan Mulholland, commissioning editor for factual and features at Sky.

Producer/director is Mike Reilly.
