EXCLUSIVE: Film London’s export market to screen Despite the Falling Snow, Urban Hymn and The ReZort.

Film London announces a selection of new titles set to premiere at the 12th edition of London Screenings in June.

Taking place from June 22-25 at London’s BFI Southbank, London Screenings is a UK export market attended by hundreds of international and domestic buyers every year.

This year’s edition will host the premieres of Cold War drama Despite the Falling Snow (6 Sales) with Charles Dance, 2011 riots story Urban Hymn (Metro International) starring Shirley Henderson and zombie thriller The ReZort (Umedia, formerly Generation Z), with Dougray Scott.

Other titles includeThe Legend of Barney Thomson, which will be distributed in the UK by Icon, and Maxine Peake’s Hamlet, which is being sold by The Little Film Company.

As well as premiering completed features, London Screenings will also meet attendees’ increasing appetite for unseen and work-in-progress titles, with highlights including a glimpse of upcoming BFI-funded films that have not previously been screened.

Breakthrough

The event’s annual Breakthrough strand again provides a platform for emerging British filmmakers to showcase their work to the international marketplace.

Titles this year include:

  • teen thriller Social Suicide, directed by Bruce Webb, whose The Be All And End All was also a Breakthrough title;

  • mystery horror AfterDeath;

  • Moss Side-based drama Lapse of Honour;

  • Follow the Money, a documentary tracking the journey of a $10 bill across the US in 30 days; and

  • psychological thriller Dartmoor Killing, which has been supported through the Film London Build Your Audience and Micro Market initiatives.

Breakthrough forms part of Film London’s dedicated support for up-and-coming talent. five of last year’s eight titles picked up for sales representation.
