He will help to judge the global competition, run by Youtube and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free, as well as acting as a co-executive producer on the winner’s next project.

Michael Fassbender has joined YouTube’s Your Film Festival as a juror.

The Shame actor will help to select the Grand Prize Winner and to co-executive produce the winner’s next film.  

Your Film Festival is a global competition aimed at finding the world’s best storytellers and connecting them with a global audience.

It is a partnership between YouTube and Scott Free, backed by Emirates and the Venice Film Festival.

Applicants are invited to submit a 15-minute, story-driven video of any format, style and genre. The ten finalists’ work will be shown at the 69th Venice International Film Festival. The winner will receive a $500,000 YouTube Original Production Grant to work with Ridley Scott’s production company Scott Free, which was behind the 2011 youtube film Life In A Day.

This will be the second project that Fassbender and Ridley Scott have worked on - Fassbender will be next seen in Scott’s Prometheus.

Fassbender will also mark his return to Venice Film Festival since winning Best Actor for his performance in Steve McQueen, The Steve McQueen directed film also garnered Fassbender a Golden-Globe nomination.
