Snowtown wins jury prize and best actor for Daniel Henshall.

The top prize of the 11th Marrakech International Film Festival, the Golden Star, has gone to Frederikke Aspock’s Out of Bounds (Labrador) from Denmark. The family drama is set on a desolate island.

Snowtown by Justin Kurzel (Australia) won the jury prize.

The jury was comprised of Emir Kusturica (president),Jessica Chastain, Nicole Garcia, Leïla Hatami, Abdelkader Lagtâa, Brillante Mendoza, Radu Mihaileanu, Maya Sansa and Aparna Sen.

The jury prize for best director went to Seven Acts of Mercy (Sette Opere di misericordia) by Italy’s Gianluca and Massimiliano de Serio.

The best actor prize went to Daniel Henshall for Snowtown, with best actress to Joslyn Jensen for Without.

The shorts jury, led by Sigourney Weaver, gave its top prize to L’Arroseur by Mohamed Aouad with a special mention to Bebope by Alaa Akaaboune.
