Winners of the 3rd ECAM Forum

Maria Aparicio’s Undefined Things II and Víctor Diago’s The Unmoving Hands were among the award-winners at the third edition of the ECAM Forum international co-production market which took place in Madrid from June 9-11.

The event wrapped on Thursday after three days of project presentations and industry meetings at Madrid’s Matadero cultural centre.

A contender in The Last Push strand, Maria Aparicio’s Undefined Things II won a €15,000 prize to help complete the post-production process.

A love story exploring migration and the experiences of workers past and present in Madrid, the jury praised the film’s hybrid nature, formal freedom and sensitive approach to its protagonists. It is produced by Argentina’s Las Flores and La Buena Hora.

The Last Push jury comprised First Cut Lab’s Emilie Bujès, D’A Film Festival Barcelona director Carlos Ríos and Cannes Critics’ Week programme manager Rémi Bigot. The jury also awarded a special mention to Pauline Julier and Nicolas Chapoulier’s Les Indes.

Participating in the Films To Come showcase, Víctor Diago’s Las Manos Quietas took the Filmin Prize, consisting of a €20,000 minimum guarantee for the streaming rights to the winning film.

Produced by Diacrònic and Boogaloo Films, it follows a young man who falls for the latest victim procured for his life-draining father.

Víctor Iriarte’s Spain-France science-fiction drama Snow Country took the Screen International ECAM Forum Award, recognising its international co-production and festival potential.

Enrique Buleo’s Wandering Little Dove, produced by Cabiria Films Media, received the €7,000 Madrid Film Office development prize. It centres on an Ecuadorian woman whose job as a failed horror attraction prompts a darkly comic search for purpose.

Ángel Filguera’s Handen received the IFFR Rotterdam prize, comprising two accreditations for its director and producer to attend CineMart. May Odeh of Palestine’s Mayana Films received the Les Arcs prize for Suha Arraf’s Chentian.
