Dick Maas’ controversial horror film Saint (Sint), which has been accused of traumatizing kids and of sullying the Saint Nicholas Day celebrations in the Netherlands, is proving a hot seller in the Cannes market place

Vicente Canales’ new Barcelona-based sales outfit Film Factory Entertainment has closed several deals on the film with key territories
Saint has been snapped up by (among others) -­-Metrodome (UK) E1 (France, Germany, Scandinavia) Corazon Films (Mexico) New Select (Japan) Vendetta (Australia / New Zealand) -­-Vapet (Czech Republic and Slovakia) Gulf Films (Middle East) Leda Films (PayTv Latin America) Eurofilms (Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador) HGC (China) Sundream (Hong Kong) and Schenchi Media (Taiwan).

The deals were confirmed by Film Factory in association Tom de Mol Productions and Parachute Pictures

Film Factory is also in advanced negotiations with distributors for the remaining territories and expect to close several more during the market. Sint has already gone to over 30 territories.

Saint depicts Saint Nicholas not as the good-­-hearted children’s friend that people know and love but as a cruel, bloodthirsty bishop who, whenever there’s a full moon on December 5th, will try to slaughter as many children as possible. The film, which screened at Tribeca, was recently picked up for the US by IFC Midnight.
