Jim Stern’s Endgame Entertainment, This American Life writer-producer Ira Glass and his producing partner Alissa Shipp are teaming up with Marc Forster and Bradford Simpson’s Apparatus to produce Heretics.

The project is based on an episode of This American Life episode of the same name. Marcus Hinchey is writing the screenplay as a potential directing vehicle for Forster.

Endgame is financing the project, which tells the true story of Carlton Pearson, a rising star in the evangelical movement who was cast out by the Church after he preached that there is no Hell.

Endgame recently partnered with Glass and Shipp to produce the thriller Wenceslas Square, which is currently being fast-tracked for production and will be directed by Phillip Noyce.

“We are thrilled to re-team with Ira and Alissa on another project at Endgame,” Stern said. “Having their impeccable instincts on board, along with the proven talents of Marc and Brad, has us all very excited to bring this compelling story to the screen.”

“This film lets us tell a story about evangelical Christians from their perspective, not from the outside,” Glass added. “And at its heart, it’s a classic old-fashioned movie plot: a man who stands up for what he believes and loses everything because of it.”

Hinchey wrote the recently completed All Good Things for Groundswell Productions and is represented by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment.

Glass and Alissa Shipp are represented by UTA and Linda Lichter of Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Adler & Feldman.
