Jamie Foxx and film-maker Deon Taylor have linked up to launch the production label No Brainer Films.

The partners will develop, finance, write, direct and produce mainstream films and TV series budgeted under $10m. Robert Smith, the founder and managing principal of private equity firm Vista Equity Partners, is financing the venture.

Among the initial projects for No Brainer are the TV series Tommy’s Little Girl, a mob drama starring Selma Blair, Paul Sorvino and Tony Sirico that Foxx created and will co-write and co-direct with Taylor.

Each will continue to run his individual production companies, Foxx-King Entertainment and Deon Taylor Enterprises.

Taylor’s latest film, the horror thriller ChainLetter starring Nikki Reed, will open in theatres in October. Taylor wrote, directed and produced. Foxx stars in November in the Warner Bros comedy DueDate from Todd Phillips.
