‘The Crown’, ‘Taboo’

Netflix’s The Crown and BBC1’s Taboo are to go head-to-head in four categories at this year’s Bafta TV Craft Awards.

Left Bank Pictures’ royal saga will be looking to repeat last year’s success in Costume Design and Special, Visual & Graphics Effects. It will face the Scott Free/Hardy Son & Baker drama in both categories as well as Photography & Lighting: Fiction and Sound: Fiction.

Nominations in full below

The Crown leads the way in this year’s nominations with seven nods compared to Taboo’s six and five each for House of Tomorrow’s Netflix anthology Black Mirror, BBC2’s Caryn Mandabach Productions/Tiger Aspect drama series Peaky Blinders and BBC1’s Blue Planet II.

Meanwhile, Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper will be hoping to repeat their success at this week’s RTS Awards with two nods for their BBC3 comedy This Country, including Writer: Comedy, where they are up against the writing teams of Castastrophe, Inside No 9 and Peter Kay’s Car Share.

The duo are also nominated for Breakthrough Talent, having already been named one of Bafta’s 20 Breakthrough Brits in October last year.

Here, they are up against Bernard MacMahon and Allison McGourty, the director and writer/producer behind Arena doc American Epic: The Sessions; Charlotte Wolf, a writer who got her break on BBC1’s Inspector George Gently; and Tom Pursey, who directed and produced Channel 4 First Cut documentary Cancer: My Online Diary.

The Bafta TV Craft Awards take place at London’s The Brewery on Sunday 22 April and will be streamed on Twitter and YouTube for the first time.
