Stanley Tucci, currently co-starring in Julie & Julia, will be honoured with the Independent By Nature Award at the 31st annual Aspen Filmfest on October 3.

Tucci will take part in an on-stage interview following a clip reel of career highlights. Among his more famous credits are The Devil Wears Prada, The Big Night, The Terminal and Road To Perdition.

He co-wrote and directed the upcoming Blind Date, in which he stars opposite Patricia Clarkson, and will be seen later this year in Peter Jackson’s potential awards contender The Lovely Bones.

Past recipients of the Independent By Nature Award include Julie Christie, Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford, Angelica Huston, William H Macy, Sydney Pollack, and Rob Reiner.

“Whether comedy or drama, featured performer or cameo, [Tucci] creates distinctive characters that make going to movies a memorable experience,” the festival’s executive director Laura Thielen said. Aspen Filmfest runs from September 30-October 4.
