Among the projects invested in is the latest feature from Children of Glory [pictured] director Krisztina Goda.

Here in Cannes, the Hungarian National Film Fund (MNF) has confirmed its latest production investments. The fund has announced it is to pump (€3.2m/$4.2m) into three new features.

MNF has confirmed it is boarding Home Guards, the latest feature from Krisztina Goda (Children Of Glory). This will shoot in September and is billed as a “drama about two brothers - Mate and Joci - who live in a small Eastern European town. They are recruited by a charismatic leader to join the Home Guards and take a stand against crime.” The project was previously developed at ScriptEast workshop.

Goda is a graduate of the British National Film and Television School (film direction) and a graduate of the screenwriting program of the UCLA (Universitiy of California, Los Angeles Film School).

The Fund is also supporting Swing by Csaba Fazekas, starring Hungarian actress Mari Törőcsik. This is being produced by István Bodzsár of Unio Film and starts shooting in the summer with delivery expected in early 2014.

A third new feature being backed by the Fund is Mancs (Paw), Robert-Adrian Pejo’s fifth feature film. The film is produced by Új Budapest Filmstúdió and László Kántor in coproduction with Hungary’s TV2 (leading commercial channel).

The MNF, the new public funding body in Hungary, has now granted €12m ($15.4m) to 20 features. Fund-backed projects currently shooting include Kornél Mundruczó’s White God, Gyula Nemes’ Zero and Denes Orosz’ Coming Out.
