EXCLUSIVE: AGC International has reported out of Toronto a wave of major international territory deals on Lauren Miller Rogen’s comedy Babies starring Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen, which received its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Deals have closed with Entertainment Film for UK & Ireland, Sun for Latin America, Spain and Portugal, Capelight for Germany, Transmission for Australia & New Zealand, and Scanbox for Scandinavia.
Co-heads of worldwide sales and distribution Diane Ferrandez and Nat McCormick and their team additionally licensed rights in: Canada (Amazon), Middle East (Front Row), Israel (United King), Turkey (Mars), India (Lionsgate), former Yugoslavia (KCS), Ukraine (UFD), and airlines (Echo Lake).
McCormick said the film was close to selling out as AGC continues talks for France and outstanding territories, while as previously announced Roadside Attractions and Vertical hold US rights and will release theatrically in 2027.
“Babies played great and the reviews have been strong,” Ferrandez said. “It was exciting to be in the theatre with this film and see the audience laughing and getting emotionally invested.”
Babies premiered in TIFF’s Gala Presentations section and screens again to the public on Friday (September 18). It centres on a happily married couple debating whether to have children who temporarily host their newly-divorced friend and her young daughter. The cast includes Kate Berlant, Issa Rae and Dan Stevens, with Sharon Stone and David Strathairn.
Monarch Media and AGC Studios co-financed and produced the feature with Lylas Pictures. Lauren Miller Rogen and Jen W. Ray from Lylas served as producers, alongside Monarch’s Steve Barnett and AGC’s Stuart Ford. Monarch’s Vicky Patel and Alan Powell, AGC’s Miguel A. Palos, Jr. and Zach Garrett, and Lylas’s Sophie Høegh served as executive producers.
