The American French Film Festival (formerly COLCOA, will honour producer and CG Cinéma founder Charles Gillibert at its 2022 edition.

Gillibert, the former mk2 executive, who has worked with Olivier Assayas, Xavier Dolan and Abbas Kiarostami, is part of the festival’s Focus On The Producer strand.

He will travel to Los Angeles for the October 10-16 event and present a restored version of Jean Eustache’s 1973 classic The Mother And The Whore. Gillibert produced the 4K restored version, which will receive its Los Angeles premiere at the festival.

The Mother And The Whore is part of a Classics programme that includes Eric Rohmer’s My Night At Mauds, Christophe Barratier’s The Chorus, and Patrice Leconte’s Mr. Hire.

Classics will also examine the legacy of Alice Guy, the first female director and creator of the first narrative film Cabbage-Patch Fairy. The film will be part of a series of 11 whimsical short films restored by Gaumont.

Recently deceased French film industry heavyweights  Jean-Louis Trintignant and Jacques Perrin will be posthumously honoured with special screenings as Part of the Classics Programme, presented in association with Cohen Media Group, Janus Film, Gaumont, Les Films du Losange, Miramax, Paramount and Pathé Films.

“As we are about to announce a competition of new French films and series that reflects the amazing creativity of French productions despite all these months of confinement, the Festival will remain faithful to the tradition with a Classics program offered to festival goers honoring two influential talents we lost this year,” said François Truffart, executive producer and programmer, The American French Film Festival.

The full line-up of films and television series in competition at The American French Film Festival will be announced on September 20.
