Visit Films has announced further deals that closed in the run-up to and during AFM on a slew of films including Locarno Golden Leopard winner A Land Imagined, Tribeca Film Festival triple winner Diane, and SXSW selection 1985.
Chinese mystery A Land Imagined has closed in Taiwan (Cineplex) and China (Jetsen), while cinesky picked up airline rights to the drama Diane, which stars Mary Kay Place (pictured) and won best narrative feature and best dramatic screenplay honours in New York for Kent Jones, as well as best cinematography honours.
Family drama 1985 starring Cory Michael Smith, Virginia Madsen, Michael Chiklis, and Jamie Chung, has sold in Germany (Salzgeber), Australia and New Zealand (Icon Film Distribution), and the UK (Peccadillo Pictures). Tribeca selection and Appalachian Trail-set drama Maine starring Laia Costa and Thomas Mann has gone in the Middle East (Front Row) and China (Beijing Hugoeast Media Co., Ltd.).
Sundance and Berlinale selection and mystery thriller Madeline’s Madeline with Molly Parker, Miranda July, and Helena Parker, has been sold in Canada (levelFilm), Middle East (Front Row), and Hungary (ELF Pictures). Another of this year’s Park City premieres, psychodrama The Queen Of Fear starring Valeria Bertuccelli, sold in Eastern Europe to HBO Europe, and in Puerto Rico to Alucine PR. The film earned the Sundance World Cinema Dramatic special jury prize.
SXSW 2017 selection and vigilante thriller M.F.A. starring Francesca Eastwood has gone in the UK (Alarm Pictures) and Australia and New Zealand (Eagle Entertainment). In other deals, the John Cho, Haley Lu Richardson, and Parker Posey drama Columbus has found homes in Finland (YLE) and Southeast Asia (Fox Asia).
Rounding out the sales spree is Irish prison break thriller Maze starring Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Barry Ward, and Martin McCann, which has sold in Canada (LevelFilm), Southeast Asia (Fox Asia), and India (Alliance Media).
