Taiwan-based Johnny Lin’s Studio Solutions Group (SSG) has acquired rights to several top-tier US titles here at the market.

Lin has taken rights from Lakeshore to the upcoming Katherine Heigl comedy One For The Money, as well as The Weinstein Company’s Scream 4, the comedy Butter with Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Garner, and mystery All Good Things starring Ryan Gosling.

Deals also concluded with Nu Image for Conan, action thriller Kane & Lynch, and the crime thriller Son Of No One. Lin acquired from Lionsgate the action drama Machine Gun Preacher as well as a substantial number of library titles.

Lin and partner and Catchplay head Wayne Chang have been working hard to build SSG and Catchplay into a vertically integrated content machine.

Playing a key role in the vision is Filmula, the production unit that plans features with broad international appeal budgeted up to $30m. Filmula’s first production was the Sundance premiere Hesher that stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and will open in the US this summer through Newmarket. Nu Image is handling foreign sales and has retitled the film Rebel.

The next production for Filmula is Emir Kusturica’s Tweakers Delight, a story about a drug dealer and his son.
