Lillith Stangenberg, Matthias Glasner on the set of ‘Exploding Ducks’

EXCLUSIVE: Lillith Stangenberg is leading the cast of Matthias Glasner’s new spy thriller Exploding Ducks, alongside System Crasher actress Helena Zengel.

The film wrapped production this weekend, having shot in Los Angeles, Kitzbuhel in Austria, Berlin, Dubai and Eastern Europe.

Exploding Ducks follows a disgraced former CIA agent who, fresh out of prison, embarks on an odyssey from Los Angeles to the Alps, from Berlin to Odessa, and finally to Dubai. Fuelled by drugs, rage, and the desperate desire to find her daughter and lover, she battles drug lords, two-faced spies, and her own inner demons – as the world hurtles towards nuclear midnight.

Jan Kruger and Roshanak ‘Rosh’ Khodabakhsh are producing for Germany’s Port au Prince Films, producers on Oscar-nominated The Secret Agent. The film is made in co-production with Glasner’s Schwarzweiss Filmproduktion, in co-operation with Christian Bauer for SR and Carlos Gerstenhauer for BR.

Further cast includes Jurgen Vogel and Thomas Heinze. Port au Prince holds worldwide rights and is looking for additional partners at this week’s European Film Market; and will distribute the film in Germany.

Backers include the German Federal Film Board (FFA) and German Federal Film Fund (DFFF).

Glasner’s previous film Dying won the Silver Bear for best screenplay at the 2024 Berlinale, on its way to four German Film Awards including best film and recording over 200,000 admissions at the German box office.
