The New York-based producer has brought on Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman to write and direct the adaptation of Edward Abbey’s 1975 novel.

Pressman and partner Gary Burden will produce the comedic adventure about four activists who fight developers in the American West in the 1970s.

Alessandro Camon and Pressman Film COO Jon Katz will serve as executive producers. Katz and attorney James A Janowitz of Pryor Cashman negotiated the deal with CAA and attorney James Feldman of Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Adler & Feldman on behalf of Joost and Schulman.

Joost and Schulman made Sundance 2010 entry Catfish and followed that up with Paramount’s global smash Paranormal Activity 3. They are preparing to direct the sequel.

Pressman is in development on his reimagining of The Crow which Javier Gutiérrez will direct and action film Bloodsport to be directed by Phillip Noyce.
