If I Go Will They Miss Me

Rich Spirit, the US company that invested in Ali Abbasi’s 2025 Oscar-nominated The Apprentice, has acquired US and select territories rights to recent Sundance coming-of-age story If I Go Will They Miss Me.

Walter Thompson-Hernandez directed the NEXT section world premiere about a 12-year-old boy who struggles to connect with his distant father as he begins sensing mysterious visions. Danielle Brooks, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Bodhi Dell star.

The film is based on Thompson-Hernandez’s award-winning short of the same name that premiered at Sundance in 2022. Josh Peters, Saba Zerehi and Ben Stillman served as producers.

Eugene Pikulin of Bruns Brennan Berry Pikulin & Jacobs brokered the deal with UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers and Rich Spirit, which anticipates an autumn theatrical release.

Rich Spirit’s debut acquisition and co-release was Donald Trump origins story The Apprentice starring Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong. Its second release, BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions by Kahlil Joseph, premiered in Sundance in 2025 and earned a US theatrical rollout through a community-driven strategy spanning art institutions and commercial cinemas.
