Lionsgate’s erotic thriller The Housemaid starring Sydney Sweeeney and Amanda Seyfried is crossing $200m at the global box office and will cross $100m in North America on Friday.
The accomplishment marks director Paul Feig’s fifth feature to reach the milestone after Ghostbusters, Bridesmaids, The Heat, and Spy. Brandon Sklenar also stars in the Hidden Pictures and Pretty Dangerous Pictures story about a troubled young woman who accepts a job in a rich couple’s home where all is not as it seems.
The Housemaid crossed $100m internationally earlier this week, fired up by the UK, where it has grossed $25.5m though Lionsgate, France on $25.4m through Metropolitan, Australia on $9.8m through Studiocanal, Spain on $7.8m through Diamond, and Brazil on $6.3m through IDC.
The film marks the second consecutive wide release to have crossed $200m for Lionsgate after Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, which currently stands at $241m worldwide.
Rebecca Sonnenshine adapted the book from the screenplay by Freida McFadden, and Todd Lieberman, Laura Fischer, and Feig served as producers.
