Star Wars: The Mandalorian And Grogu topped the UK-Ireland box office in its opening weekend as cinemas took a hit over the Bank Holiday heatwave.

Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian And Grogu opened on £5.3m from 691 locations, making for a £7,670 site average. It is the second-lowest opening for a Star Wars film under Disney, just ahead of 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story which debuted with £4.9m.

Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver star.

Taking the second spot was music biopic Michael with £1.8m for Universal in its fifth session for a cume of £44.8m.

Jumping up to third place was the Universal horror Obsession which had the best hold of any title, dropping just 2% with £1.3m. Curry Barker’s film stands at £4.3m after two weeks.
