UK distributors True Brit and Dogwoof and UK Jewish Film are among the major recipients of July’s round of BFI National Lottery audience projects funding.

True Brit has received its first BFI audience award, with £100,000 for George Jaques’ Sunny Dancer theatrical release on August 14. The award is supporting a youth-led marketing campaign, including audience insight and testing with young people, creator and influencer activity and a TikTok campaign designed to drive awareness, word-of-mouth and cinema admissions among young audiences.

Dogwoof is receiving £120,000 for The Cycle Of Love, including targeted outreach to British Indian and South Asian audiences. Orlando von Einsiedel’s Telluride documentary follows the journey of a Delhi street artist who in 1977 travelled across continents by bicycle to reunite with his great love.

UK Jewish Film, the organisation behind the UK Jewish Film Festival, receives £115,000 for New Perspectives, a two-year programme of regional touring screenings and enhanced online activity.

Recurring Dreams receives £43,225 for a six-venue tour of Baff Akoto’s immersive installation Collateral Echoes. Funding will support evaluation activity to capture insights and broaden engagement with audiences interested in Black history and social justice.

Scottish Queer International Film Festival (SQIFF) also receives £43,225 for marketing, screenings and events in venues across Glasgow, including Glasgow Film Theatre and collaborations with UK queer festivals.
