Italian sales outfit True Colours has closed a number of sales for its autumn slate at this year’s MIA Market (October 16-20) in Rome.
Among the market premieres were Venice Days audience award winner 200 Meters by Palestinian director Ameen Nayfeh, which was acquired for French-speaking territories by Shellac and for Turkey by Filmarti. Italian distribution rights for the film have been secured by I Wonder.
Also premiering at MIA was Evi Romen’s Why Not You, winner of best picture in the Focus section of the Zurich Film Festival. The LGBT drama is a co-production between Austria (Amour Fou) and Belgium (Take 5), and will be distributed in Germany by Salzberg, in the US and UK by TLA Releasing and in Poland by Tongariro.
Talks are ongoing for France and Switzerland. Why Not You is currently being presented in competition at the Viennale and is featured in Tallinn’s line-up.
Finally, Italian comedy Love Under House Arrest by Emiliano Corapi was sold to Mediator Europe for Finnish distribution.
In addition, some of the best sellers from True Colours’ catalogue also scored deals.
A Bookshop In Paris, the new film by Sergio Castellitto (Fortunata) starring Berenice Bejo which is currently in post-production, was acquired by Adso Film for Spain, Rosebud for Greece, Cirko Film for Hungary, Voxell Media for Russia and Best Film for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Ferzan Ozpetek’s The Goddess Of Fortune was also sold to Destiny Films for France, Sun Distribution for Latin America and Breaking Glass Pictures for the US and Canada.
