‘Let Me Tell You, Dad!’

EXCLUSIVE: V Pictures is bringing a string of upcoming Vietnamese features to the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM), including a family drama produced by Busan New Currents winner Tran Thanh Huy.

Let Me Tell You, Dad! marks the feature-directing debut of Do Quoc Trung and is produced by Tran, whose Rom scooped the New Currents prize at BIFF in 2019 and proved a local box-office success. The upcoming family drama is about a circus tightrope walker who risks his life by performing dangerous stunts to fund his teenage son’s treatment for depression.

The cast is led by Kieu Minh Tuan from 2017’s Jailbait. who is joined by emerging actor Hao Khang and veteran singer–actress Phuong Thanh.

Also on the slate is My Little Grandma, which reunites director Khuong Ngoc with Viet Huong, Hong Dao and Le Khanh from his 2024 drama The Real Sister. The cross-generational story is about a grandmother who steps in to care for the daughter of her own estranged daughter.

Mystery drama Where It Began follows a woman who, upon returning to her rural hometown, encounters a dark curse beneath a tomb that hold long-buried family secrets. The cast includes Rima Thanh Vy (Furies) and Vin Lu (You And Trịnh) along with veteran star Hoang Phuc.

It is directed by Thang Vu, whose 2023 film Black Rose was the first Vietnamese production to be funded by the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS).

Rounding out the titles is The Ultimate Love, a comedy drama starring and directed by Thu Trang, whose Money Kisses has proved a smash hit this year. It follows a rural girl who marries a wealthy young master to secure a bright future for her younger siblings.

V Pictures is the Ho Chi Minh City-based production and sales arm of CJ CGV Vietnam.

Face Off 8: Embrace Of Light, distributed by the latter, is Vietnam’s third highest-grossing film of 2025 to date, reportedly taking more than $8.7m (VND230bn). It is after Red Rain, which has recently become Vietnam’s top local film of all time with $25.7m (VND681bn), and The 4 Rascals
