Paramount Pictures and JJ Abrams' Bad Robot Productions have extended their first-look deal through 2013 ahead of the summer release of Abrams' Star Trek.

The partners first collaborated on Cloverfield, which scored the
biggest January opening weekend in history when it took $40.1m over
three days. They are scheduled to begin production in June on the comedy Morning Glory starring Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams that Abrams is producing.

Star Trek is set to open on May 8 and is produced by Abrams and Damon Lindelof, with Abrams' Bad Robot partner Bryan Burk serving as
executive producer along with Jeffrey Chernov and screenwriters
Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

Paramount chairman and CEO Brad Grey said the deal with Bad Robot,
initially signed in 2006, was particularly meaningful because it was
'one of the first deals we made to help rebuild the studio. JJ has
since become part of the fabric of Paramount and we look forward to
continuing our fruitful creative collaboration for many years to
come.'

'We are all so grateful for [Paramount's] amazing support and creative
team, and feel like we're just getting started,' said Abrams, who also
directed Mission: Impossible III for the studio. 'We are thrilled that we get to stay right where we are.'
