Following a meeting between the President of the Rome Film Fest Goffredo Bettini and the new Mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno, it has been confirmed that the third edition of the Rome Film Fest will go ahead as planned from October 22-31.

This meeting follows the outspoken criticisms of the festival made by Alemanno after his election in April.

The talks between Alemanno and Bettini were reportedly positive and held in a spirit of collaboration.

The Mayor's office and the Fest will be holding further discussions about progranming, before informing the other participating institutions (the Province, the Region and the Chamber of Commerce) about any conclusions or proposed changes to the event's governance structure.

One idea that has been floated informally is putting Italy's top local film awards, the David Di Donatello awards, under the control of the Rome Film Fest.
