Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) has promoted Noemie Weisse to senior vice president, sales, for French-language territories, Portugal and Portuguese-speaking Africa.

Weisse, who heads distribution sales for the region from the company's Paris office, will continue to lead the company's distribution sales activities related to TV broadcasters. She also takes on a new remit in SPTI's electronic distribution business with VOD, mobile platforms and other new technologies.

She will report to Stuart Baxter, executive vice president of European distribution for SPTI.

Weisse joined SPTI in 1994 as director, sales, with responsibility for the Greek, Belgian, Portuguese and African markets.

'Since joining SPTI, Noemie's knowledge and experience of the French TV market has positioned us strongly in selling our content through 'traditional' means,' Baxter said. ' With the emergence of the different digital forms of distribution, Noemie's leadership will help us build a position in the new media market and enable us exploit opportunities for growth.'
