Netflix original Korean series Move To Heaven leads the nominations for the 3rd Asian Contents Awards (ACA), run by the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF)’s Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM).
The ACA aims to showcase outstanding TV, OTT and online content from Asia. The ACA said it had received a record-breaking 163 submissions from 16 countries, almost double the number of submissions last year. They selected 30 titles from 11 countries.
Starring Lee Je-hoon and produced by Page One Film and No. 3 Pictures, Move To Heaven led the pack with six nominations, in the categories of best creative, best OTT original, creative beyond border, best actor, best writer and newcomer – actor.
iQIYI’s Chinese suspense drama series The Long Night and Netflix’s Japanese sci-fi series Alice In Borderland tied with five nominations - including, for both, best creative, best OTT Original and creative beyond border.
Korean crime series Vincenzo picked up four nominations including for best creative, best Asian TV series, best writer and best actor for Song Joong Ki.
The ACA jury’s special award, the lifetime achievement award, and ACA excellence award will be revealed at the ceremony
ACA will again be held as an on-site event with local hosts and attendees while overseas nominees from around Asia participate online. The ceremony will be hosted by Mark Tetto from JTBC’s Abnormal Summit and Kim Sae-yeon, who hosted ACA since its inception.
The event will be streamed October 7 on Naver and BIFF’s official YouTube channel.
