The German-Russian Co-development Fund yesterday backed five new productions, including films from Aleksander Sokurov and Aleksey Uchitel, to the tune of 95,000 euros.

Russian Arc director Sokurov received 15,000 euros for The Louvre Under The Occupation, which will explore the relationship between art and power, and Aleksej Uchitel was granted 20,000 euros for The Stockholm Syndrome, to be produced by Film Base Berlin and Rock Films St. Petersburg.

The General by Bakur Bakuradze, Tajik Jimmy by Ella Vakassova and Offside by Alexander Strizhenov each received 20,000 euros.

The Fund was created by the German Federal Film Board, Russian Cinema Fund, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung in June 2011.
