Lucía Garibaldi’s Uruguay-Argentina co-production Los Tiburones (The Sharks) won the Films in Progress 32 Industry Award in San Sebastián, presented on September 26.

The works in progress initiative is run jointly by the San Sebastián Film Festival and Cinélatino-Rencontres de Toulouse, designed to help films in post-production and international distribution.

Les Tiburones also received the Film Factory award in which the Spainsh sales outfit Film Factory pre-bought worldwide distribution rights and presented the lead producer with €40,000. 

Ignas Jonynas’ Nematoma (Invisible), a Lithuania-Latvia-Ukraine co-production, won the Glocal in Progress award for projects being made in languages other than Spanish, English, French, German, Russian and Italian.

Nematoma was one of the three projects chosen for the second edition of the Glocal in Progress intiative. The other two were Tassos Gernakinis’ A Simple Man (Greece-France) and Pelin Esmer’s Klaliçe Lear (Turkey). The three features, all at the post-production stage, were showcased to international producers, distributors, sales agents and programmers.

Further industry awards presented on Wednesday included the Arte International Prize to debut feature screenwriter Clara Roquet for Libertad, a Spain-Denmark co production. Meanwhile, theRec Grabaketa-Estudia Post Production Award was won by El Agua (Water), a Swiss production by Spanish director Elena López Riera.
