‘The Eyes’

EXCLUSIVE: K-Movie Entertainment has landed international sales rights to The Eyes, a South Korean remake of Spanish thriller Julia’s Eyes, and is set to launch the title at the AFM. A first look at star Shin Min-a in the feature can be seen above.

Directed by Yeom Ji-ho, the story follows a renowned photographer devastated by the sudden and mysterious death of her twin sister. As she searches for the truth, her vision begins to fade and she feels an unseen presence around her, sparking a spiral into paranoia and darkness.

The lead role is played by award-winning actress Shin, known for hit TV series Our Blues, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and recent Netflix crime drama Karma as well as features such as Kim Jee-woon’s A Bittersweet Life, which played at Cannes in 2005. The cast also includes Kim Nam-hee of Netflix fantasy series Sweet Home.

The upcoming film is inspired by Guillem Morales’s acclaimed thriller Julia’s Eyes, which was produced by Guillermo del Toro and premiered at Toronto in 2010 before going on to open Sitges that same year. A Hindi remake titled Blurr was released in 2022.

The Eyes is produced by Studio Dream Capture and Time Heist. Studio Dream Capture is one of Korea’s leading genre-focused production houses known for box office hits Hide And Seek and The Mimic.

The film is presented and distributed by BY4M Studio, a burgeoning firm in South Korea that has scored a string of box office successes this year including The Firefighters, Hitman 2, The Match and Noise. A local release of The Eyes is being readied for mid-2026.

The title bolsters K-Movie’s growing genre slate that also includes The Roundup 5, the latest in the blockbuster action franchise starring Don Lee, and two titles presented by BY4M Studio: Number One and Hug Me. Thai horror Our House from director Kongkiat Komesiri (Operation Undead) has also joined the slate ahead of its scheduled release in December.
