Israeli-Palestinian comedy was presented at last week’s Pixel Pitch at PttP’s Cross-Media Forum.
Marc Evans [pictured] (Hunky Dory, Snow Cake) will direct Israeli-Palestinian comedy Birthright for New York-based BoomGen Studios.
Mahyad Tousi, BoomGen producer and CEO, presented the project at last week’s Pixel Pitch at Power To The Pixel’s Cross-Media Forum in London.
Ari Issler and Ben Snyder wrote the feature film about a shy Jewish American kid who follows the girl of his dreams on a trip to Israel, only to get lost in Palestine. He falls for another girl there and becomes part of a media circus.
The film will shoot in Northern California, Israel and the West Bank in 2013.
The transmedia project will also include an interactive graphic novel (Katie Miranda’s Tear Gas In the Morning) and mobile game.
Tousi said: “Birthright is a multi-narrative story franchise that explores the intersection of politics, identity, and love, by seamlessly blending fiction and nonfiction, and interactive media. Marc is a rare director who has continuously experimented with genre throughout his career and we are excited to have him at the helm of the centerpiece of the franchise.”

Marc Evans is represented in the UK by Jane Villiers at Sayle Screen and in the US by David Gersh at The Gersh Agency.
Evans is also filming Doors Open, an Ian Rankin adaptation for ITV starring Douglas Henshall and Stephen Fry.
