UPDATE: Voting has now closed for Screen International’s Best British Film of the Year award.

The winner will be announced at The Big Screen Awards ceremony held on November 24 at the Brewery in London.

The Big Screen Awards were rebranded from the Screen Awards, last held in 2019, and aim to recognise the achievements of marketing, distribution, publicity and exhibition teams and companies for their work releasing films into UK cinemas and connecting them with audiences.

The full list of nominees have been announced here.

The Best British Film of the Year award launched in 2018, with Dan Kokotajlo’s Apostasy winning the first edition and Mark Jenkin’s Bait winning in 2019.

This year’s top 10 was selected by Screen International’s senior editors based on films that received a UK theatrical release during the Big Screen Awards eligibility period: May 17, 2021 (when UK cinemas were allowed to reopen) to September 30, 2022. Titles were defined as British based on BFI or Bafta criteria.
