Samuel Abrahams’ Lady is among the 13 titles competing in the first feature competition at the 29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (POFF, November 7-23) in Estonia.
The lineup includes nine world premieres and four international, UK comedy Lady among the latter, after having its world premiere at BFI London Film Festival later this month. Sian Clifford stars in the debut as a narcissistic aristocrat who hires a documentary crew to follow her around.
Further films include Stefanos Tsivopoulos’ Elena’s Shift, which won the best international project prize at the 2024 Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event; and Hercules Falling from Danish director Christian Bonke whose previous credits include the 2011 Tribeca award-winning documentary Ballroom Dancer.
Ten of the films come from Europe while the other titles come from Mexico, Taiwan and Kyrgyzstan.
The titles are competing for the best debut film award which comes with a €5,000 cash prize.
The main competition will be announced on October 10.
