Vertigo Releasing has secured UK and Ireland rights to Bella Thorne crime thriller Infamous and action horror Ghosts Of War from Los Angeles-based Highland Film Group.

Both will be released on digital platforms on July 6 and July 17 respectively before being released in Australia and New Zealand on digital platforms in August through Vertigo’s previously announced partnership with Rialto Distribution.

Infamous is written and directed by Joshua Caldwell and stars Thorne (Assassination Nation), Jake Manley (Midway) and Amber Riley (Glee). The film follows young lovers after they leave small-town Florida and begin terrorizing the southland by committing a series of armed robberies, which they share on social media.

Vertical Entertainment previously acquired North American distribution rights and is set to release via virtual cinema and VOD on June 12.

Ghosts Of War is written and directed by Eric Bress, whose credits include The Butterfly Effect, and stars Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent), Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect) and Billy Zane. It is about five US soldiers assigned to hold a French chateau previously occupied by the Nazis towards the end of the war who encounter a supernatural enemy.

Vertigo and Rialto announced their partnership in February to give the two independent companies more clout in the international market and will see London-based Vertigo co-acquire and co-release films in ANZ with Rialto. Vertigo’s UK releasing strategy will remain separate.
