‘The Fixation’, ‘The Mirror’

EXCLUSIVE: UK-based sales firm Wildstar has sold erotic thriller The Fixation and drama The Mirror to US distributor Darkstar.

Matthias De Leis Correa’s The Fixation premieres this weekend at Outshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival in Florida, US. The film sees a struggling photographer accept an erotic photography assignment which reunites him with a famous model with whom he shares a turbulent past.

Diego Alfonso and Ezequiel Bianchini lead the cast of the Argentina-UK production; it is a fourth feature for Argentinian filmmaker De Leis Correa.

Darkstar has also picked up Marco Berger’s The Mirror, which had its world premiere at Outshine earlier this month. It sees a young filmmaker invite a former actor to star in a short film about two men confronting forbidden attraction. The film has also sold to Optimale in France.

Both titles will have limited theatrical releases in the US, and both will have Australian premieres at Melbourne Queer Film Festival next month.

Darkstar executive Richard Ross described The Fixation as “a gleefully twisted tale, with an abundance of style and substance. Dangerous, yet entertaining, and dark with a slightly retro feel.”

Wildstar’s Murray Dibbs said that Darkstar has “done a fantastic job on both directors’ previous films and we are certain these will follow suit.”
