Former X-Filme exec Andro Steinborn lining up projects by Karim Ainouz, Nadav Schirmann and Marianne Sägebrecht culture clash comedy with his new company Arden Film

Former X-Filme Creative Pool executive Andro Steinborn has unveiled the production slate for his new company Arden Film, including new films by Karim Ainouz and Nadav Schirmann.

Steinborn is collaborating with Georgia Costa Araujo of Coracao Da Selva on Ainouz’s adventure movie Praia di Futuro to be shot in Germany and Brazil.

A German-Israeli co-production with July-August Films is planned for Nadav Schirmann’s adaptation of the Assaf Gavron novel Croc Attack. Backing has already come from Hessen Film Fund and the Israel Film Fund.

In addition, Steinborn has Tomy Wigand attached to direct Oma in Roma, a generation/ culture clash comedy starring Marianne Sägebrecht and Annette Freier from a screenplay by Jane Ainscough. Majestic Filmverleih will distribute in Germany, with Beta Film handling international sales.

Moreover, Arden Film is the partner on the long-term documentary Bar25: The Film  (working title) which is one of the first films in Germany to benefit from crowd funding to help finance the postproduction.

The filmmakers followed the seven years’ existence of this alternative venue on the banks of the Spree before it was closed down last year.
