Danish powerhouse Zentropa is launching its own VOD platform, zentropaondemand.com, available internationally. Prices start at 3 Euros per film.

Zentropa on Demand goes live on May 18 with access to the entire Zentropa catalogue, which ranges from Lars von Trier’s debut feature The Element Of Crime (1984) to Oscar-winning movie In A Better World (2010) by Susanne Bier. Other offerings include films from Per Fly, Niels Arden Oplev, Annette K. Olesen, Kristian Levring, Lone Scherfig and Thomas Vinterberg.

Zentropa is billing itself as “the first production company in the world to launch its own VOD platform.”

“The cultural imperialism has now begun for real,” Zentropa boss Peter Aalbæk Jensen commented of the new inititiative.

Zentropa was formed in 1992 by Aalbæk Jensen and Lars Von Trier (whose latest feature Melancholia screens in competition next week.)
