Damien Golla, Wild Bunch head of theatrical distribution in France

Damien Golla has been appointed head of French theatrical distribution at the Wild Bunch group.

He replaces Jérôme Rougier, who held the position from 2017.

Prior to joining Wild Bunch, Golla was vice president marketing new releases at Warner Bros Entertainment France from 2019, and before that, marketing director of the distribution division at Gaumont from 2016 to 2019.

He began his career in the film industry at Pathé Films as part of the marketing team from 2004 to 2010, and then at Twentieth Century Fox as senior marketing manager from 2010 to 2016.

Wild Bunch said Rougier who originally joined the group from Studiocanal in 2004 has left the company to pursue a new project in film production.

Golla’s arrival comes amid a period of change for the Wild Bunch group following the surprise appointment of Hollywood veteran Ron Meyer and French media industry executive Sophie Jordan as CEO and co-CEO in November, replacing co-founder and then CEO Vincent Grimond.

“We are very pleased to welcome Damien, a true film lover, whose diverse background and expertise in both French and foreign films will be key,” said Jordan.

Recent French theatrical releases by Wild Bunch include Venice Golden Lion winner The Happening, Just 6.5, The Summit Of The Gods and Promises. Upcoming releases include The Companions, The Grandmother, Vortex, Official Competition and Ninjababy.

The Wild Bunch group spans TV and film distribution and production operations in Germany, France, Spain and Italy as well as a TV sales arm. Its former feature film sales arm Wild Bunch International has been an independent entity since 2019.
