‘Land Of Gold’

US-based boutique distributor and sales agent Juno Films has acquired world distribution rights to US filmmaker Jon Else’s documentary, Land Of God.

The Telluride 2021 premiere takes a look behind the curtain at the production and rehearsals of the San Fransisco opera Girls Of The Golden West. It presents the untold stories of the Latino, Black and many women who joined in the quest for riches during the California Gold Rush in the mid-1800s.

It is produced by Else and Camille Servan-Schreiber.

The deal was negotiated by Justine Jacob of Focus Law Media Group on behalf of the producers.

“We dove into a very dark, funny and flamboyant world, as two versions of the same story march forward 170 years apart,” said Else. “The film follows men and women on a collision course in California on the fourth of July, 1851, and we go behind the scenes with quick-witted young opera singers excavating that same history in the age of Trump. Whatever you were expecting in a documentary about the Gold Rush, this is not it.”
