Paramount’s CinemaCon session on Thursday morning brought appearances from Billie Eilish, James Cameron and Johnny Depp, a Top Gun: Maverick sequel update, and teased a slate that features Scary Movie, Brad Pitt survival thriller Heart Of The Beast, and the first Call Of Duty video game adaptation.

After CEO David Ellison. kicked off the presentation by pledging his commitment to theatrical in light of the proposed $110bn merger with Warner Bros Discovery, Paramount Pictures co-chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein said the script on the next Top Gun film reuniting Tom Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer was “well underway”.

On the horizon the studio’s pipeline includes the untitled Damien Chazelle crime drama starring Cillian Murphy, Daniel Craig, and Michelle Williams, Siân Heder’s romance Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow starring Daisy Edgar-Jones; Oscar-nominated Teyana Taylor’s directorial debut Get Lite; an adaptation of South Korean crime thriller The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil and a new Paranormal Activity instalment, both from James Wan; and Osgood Perkins’ next Longlegs instalment starring Nicolas Cage, which the studio recently acquired.

Eilish and Cameron showed footage from May 8 release Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour (Live In 3D) from Lightstorm Earth, Darkroom Records, and Interscope Films Production; and a bewildered-looking Depp found himself onstage to introduce footage from Ti West’s November 13 release Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol.

African drummers marched up before writer-director Gina Prince-Bythewood joined Viola Davis, Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris and Chiwetel Ejiofor to show footage from Children Of Blood And Bone (January 15, 2027). The filmmaker’s follow-up to 2022’s The Woman King takes place in an African fantasy kingdom where a young woman embarks on a quest to reclaim what was stolen from her people. The cast includes Idris Elba.

The session teed up a sizzle reel of upcoming titles including Sonic The Hedgehog 4 starring Jim Carrey (March 19, 2027); Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 with Seth Rogen (August 13, 2027); John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place Part III (July 30, 2027) with Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds, Jason Clarke, Jack O’Connell and Emily Blunt; and Peter Berg’s Untitled Call Of Duty Film (June 30, 2028).

Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Anna Faris showed footage from Scary Movie (June 5), Johnny Knoxville announced the title of the last film in the Jackass series, jackass best and last (June 26), and showed the first trailer; and key cast assembled to show footage from Kitao Sakurai’s Street Fighter (October 16) – the first film under Paramount’s three-year global distribution deal with Legendary Entertainment.

There was also footage from the undated Heart Of The Beast, in which Pitt reunites with Fury director David Ayer and plays a former Army Special Forces Soldier and his retired combat dog who crash in the Alaskan wilderness; K-Pop Superstar: The Movie (February 12, 2027) starring Ji-young Yoo and Eric Nam; and the trailer from American Football biopic Mr. Irrelevant: The John Tuggle Story starring David Corenswet (December 25).

Cal Brunker’s Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie opens on August 14 and John Ric’s The Angry Birds Movie 3 lands on December 23.
