Scream 7 set a record opening for the horror franchise in the UK & Ireland, starting with a £3.3m weekend and dethroning Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights.
Scream 7 brought in £3.3m from 596 sites at an average of £5,487 for Paramount. The weekend figure is the biggest start to date of the franchise, ahead of the previous six films including 1998’s Scream 2 (£2.5m at a higher £6,428 average), 2022’s Scream (£2.5m at a £3,969 average) and 2023’s Scream VI (£2.4m at £3,777 average).
Scream 7 has £3.8m including previews, and will look to top the £8.4m of 1997 first title Scream to become the highest-grossing film in the franchise.
Warner Bros’ Wuthering Heights added £2.2m on its third weekend in cinemas – a drop of 42%. Emerald Fennell’s romantic drama is up to £20.8m total, overtaking Hamnet to become the highest-grossing release of 2026 to date. It has overtaken the totals of fellow literary adaptationsA Christmas Carol (£20.4m), The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (£20.4m) and 101 Dalmatians (£20.7m), with The Woman In Black (£21.3m) close up ahead.
Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis concert film EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert began with £1.1m from Friday to Sunday for Universal, from 639 sites at a £1,787 site average. The film has £1.9m in total having broken into the top five on previews alone last weekend.
Sony animation GOAT added £902,617 to its total on its third weekend – a drop of 67%, with the previous session having fallen during the school holidays. The film is up to a decent £11.8m total.
Amazon MGM’s Crime 101, distributed by Sony, added £410,851 on its third session – a 46% drop that brought it to £3.7m total.
Takings for the top five fell 8% to just below £8m; but remain 11% up on the equivalent weekend from last year, continuing a decent start to 2026 for UK-Ireland cinemas. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! will look to continue the good news next weekend, alongside Netflix’s Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, Disney’s Hoppers and Entertainment Film Distributors’ Mother’s Pride.
Agent takes his cut

Kleber Mendonça Filho’s Oscar-nominated The Secret Agent posted a good second weekend hold, falling just 27%. Already the director’s highest-grossing film in the territory, the Mubi title added £179,300 and is up to £752,548, and will now look to cross the £1m mark before the end of its run.
Animation Zootropolis 2 leads Disney’s slate, adding £179,000 on its 14th weekend in cinemas – a drop of 74% that brought it to £35.9m total.
Mona Fastvold’s The Testament Of Ann Lee opened to £162,000 for Disney, from 185 sites at an £876 site average.
Event cinema release Twenty One Pilots: More Than We Ever Imagined took £157,213 at the weekend, and has £412,359 with previews, including in Imax from Wednesday February 25.
Cold Storage starring Liam Neeson leads Studiocanal’s slate, adding £140,431 on its second weekend – a 65% drop that brought it to £766,872.
Former number one Hamnet added £134,486 on its eighth weekend in cinemas for Universal, and is up to £18.4m total after a slim drop of just 29%.
Cal McMau’s UK crime drama Wasteman added £124,743 on its second weekend for Lionsgate – a 55% drop that took it to £636,624 total.
Sam Raimi’s horror Send Help added £111,000 on its fourth weekend for Disney – a 68% drop that brought it to £4.2m total.
Still in cinemas after 10 weekends and despite now being available for online purchase, Lionsgate’s The Housemaid added £92,437. It is up to £31.9m, and will likely finish as the distributor’s second-highest-grossing title of all time, behind The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (£34.2m).
Oliver Laxe’s Oscar-nominated Sirāt opened to £92,237 from 76 sites at an impressive £1,214 site average for Altitude. This puts it in a similar range to the opening site averages of fellow best international feature Oscar contenders Sentimental Value (£1,150), It Was Just An Accident (£1,272), The Voice Of Hind Rajab (£1,497) and The Secret Agent (£1,737). Sirāt has £146,108 including previews.
Picturehouse Entertainment’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You posted the best hold in the top 20 titles, falling just 22%. Mary Bronstein’s drama added £68,243, and is up to £257,216, already reaching 25% of its total in the US.
Charli XCX mockumentary The Moment dropped 84% on its second weekend in cinemas for Universal, with £50,498 taking it to £506,251 in total.
Independent UK animation The Scarecrows’ Wedding posted an increase on its fourth weekend, going up 11% with £45,561 taking it to £284,112 from four weekends for Magic Light Pictures.
Paramount’s The SpongeBob Movie: Search For Squarepants added £40,000 on its 10th weekend in cinemas, and is up to £8.9m total.
Bollywood comedy Viyaah Kartaare Da opened to £35,811 for Bakrania Media, from 66 sites at a £702 average.
Hong Kong comedy Night King added £30,727 on its second weekend for Trinity Film, and is up to £222,732.
Japanese anime All You Need Is Kill brought in £25,905 on its opening weekend from 112 sites at a £231 average. Including previews, the sci-fi story is up to £30,621 for Anime Ltd.
Lionsgate’s H Is For Hawk starring Claire Foy added £25,640 and is up to £1.4m from six weekends.
No Other Choice by new Cannes jury president Park Chan-wook added £15,637 on its sixth weekend for Mubi, and is up to £1.8m total.
Studiocanal family title Kangaroo hopped to £770,239, after a £12,400 fifth weekend.
Animation Looney Tunes: The Day The Earth Blew Up added £10,778 on its third weekend for Vertigo Releasing, and is up to £320,085.
Independent animation Stitch Head added £7,800 on its third weekend for Kazoo Films, and is up to £487,000.
A third weekend of Bollywood crime drama O’Romeo brought in £5,479 for Bakrania Media, with the film up to £196,080.
Scare Out put on £3,650 on its second weekend for Trinity Film; the Chinese thriller is up to £78,196 in total.
