Upcoming UK releases Monsters, Chalet Girl and Chatroom are amongst the films to benefit from the last round of the UKFC’s Digital Innovation in Distribution scheme.

The lottery funded Digital Innovation in Distribution scheme, which encouraged distributors to use interactive digital media to target wider audiences, was part of the UKFC’s annual £4m Prints and Advertising Fund. There is no word yet whether the scheme will exist after the abolution of the UK Film Council.

As part of the scheme, Vertigo Distribution received £150,000 to expand the Dec 3 release of Gareth Edwards’ Monsters from 80 to 150 screens, as well as increasing the film’s awareness through location-based social media.

CinemaNX was awrded £30,000 to create a Facebook, iPhone and iPad game to coincide with the release of its 3D feature documentary TT3D, about the famous motorcycle race that takes place on the Isle of Man every year, in April 2011.

Revolver Films received £200,000 to create an innovative website to coincide with the release of Chatroom in December, while Momentum was awarded £30,000 to create an interactive trailer for upcoming British comedy Chalet Girl which is released in February next year.

Other films to receive funding included Mike Leigh’s Another Year and Pathe’s Africa United.
