Focus Features International co-president Alison Thompson announced on Monday [Jun 3] a raft of multi-territory deals from the Croisette on the Amy Winehouse doc, Mike Leigh’s Turner project, submarine thriller Black Sea and genre title Oculus.

Rights to the Winehouse documentary to be directed by Asif Kapadia have gone to: France (Mars); Germany (Prokino); Australia/New Zealand (eOne); Benelux (Cineart); Greece (Odeon); Iceland (Sena); Israel (Lev Cinema); Middle East (Italia); Portugal (Lusomundo) Turkey (D Productions); Hong Kong (Edko); India (PVR); Singapore (Shaw Renters); Thailand (IPA Pacific); and South Africa (Ster Kinekor). Offers are on the table for the UK, CIS and Italy.

James Gay-Rees produces through Playmaker Films, the new production entity he set up with his Senna collaborator Kapadia.

Deals on Leigh’s [pictured] JMW Turner film starring Timothy Spall have closed in: Australia/New Zealand (Transmission); Benelux (eOne); Greece (Odeon); Iceland (Sena); Israel (Lev Cinema); Portugal (Lusomundo); Scandinavia (Svensk); Switzerland (Monopole Pathe); India (PVR); Singapore (Shaw Renters); Thailand (IPA Pacific); and South Africa (Ster Kinekor).

FFI previously announced deals with Momentum in the UK, Diaphna in France and Prokino in Germany. Sony Pictures Classics will distribute in North America, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Georgina Lowe produces and Gail Egan is the executive producer. Production partners include Film4, British Film Institute, Focus Features International, Lipsync and Ingenious (Xofa Productions).

FFI has closed Notorious for Italy on Kevin Macdonald’s heist thriller Black Sea starring Jude Law and Square One for Germany on Mike Flanagan’s psychological thriller Oculus.
