‘Gus, The Guide Dog’

EXCLUSIVE: Germany’s Sola Media is beginning sales on the long-gestating animated feature Gus The Guide Dog, about a stray who wants to move into service. The project has completed financing and is now in production.

The film is inspired by Bruno Simões’ 2018 viral short film Pip, which has racked up over 540 million views on YouTube. Experienced producer Roger Torras at Barcelona’s WKND is overseeing the creative team and is making his directorial debut with the project. Raúl Berninches, also from WKND, has joined the production alongside Pedro Domingo and Celine Fernandes from Nu Boyana Portugal. The film will be released in Spain by Vercine.

Gus is being unleashed to buyers alongside various other new Sola Media titles, including Little Dream Entertainment’s animated feature Felix The Brave, telling the story of a flea, and Australian animated movie,  The Neverending Pillow Fort, from production outfit Like A Photon Creative.

The latter is co-scripted by the UK’s Gurinder Chadha and Paul Mayeda Berges.
